My dimmable lamps flicker/blink with an LED dimmer

It can happen that lamps start flickering when connected to a dimmer. Obviously, this is not the intention, and it is important to properly resolve this issue.

Possible causes:

  • The lamp is not dimmable.

  • An incorrect dimmer is being used.

  • The power of the lamp falls outside the dimming range of the dimmer.

  • The dimmer is incorrectly set.

Pay attention to the minimum load:

Simply add up the total wattage of your LED lamps connected to the dimmer.
For example: 4 lamps of 4W each = 16W total.
The minimum load of your dimmer must be lower than 16W, otherwise the lamps may flicker or not dim properly.

Multiple LED lamps on one dimmer:

It is advisable to keep the total load approximately 10% below the maximum load of the dimmer. This prevents problems during voltage fluctuations.
For example: with an LED dimmer of 2–100W and LED lamps of 4W, a maximum of 23 LED lamps can be safely connected.
