Can I charge my Smart devices with a USB fast charger?

Not all Smart devices support USB fast chargers.

If a Smart device does not support this, using a fast charger may result in:

  • Slower charging

  • Or even no charging at all

How does a fast charger work?

A USB fast charger delivers a higher power output than a standard USB charger. This is done via special charging protocols such as Quick Charge or Power Delivery (PD). These protocols communicate with the device to determine how much power should be supplied.

Since not all Smart devices support these protocols yet, a device may enter a slower charging mode or refuse to charge.

Advice

  • Preferably always use the standard USB charger supplied with your Smart device. This has been tested for compatibility and guarantees safe use.

  • If a supplied charger is missing or the original charger is not available, use a standard 5V USB charger with at least 1 ampere.

  • This ensures a safe and reliable charging experience, without risk of damage to your Smart device.
